A football tournament is being held to remember the 56 people who died in the Bradford City fire disaster.

Under 12 and 14s teams from Bradford City and Lincoln City will be joined by local clubs and twin town German side Hamm for the two-day competition.

The event will commemorate those who died when a fire broke out at Valley Parade on 11 May 1985 during a match between Bradford and Lincoln.

It will take place at Marley Activities & Coaching Centre in Keighley.

A minute's silence will be held before the start of the competition this weekend.

The Lord Mayor of Bradford, councillor Gerry Barker, is due to attend on Sunday afternoon to watch the final and present commemorative medals to the players and hand the trophy to the winning team.

A spokesperson for Bradford Council said: "The spirit of the event is to promote friendship through football and a team fair play trophy is awarded on both days."
