PC Caitlin Howarth appeared at York Crown Court charged with misconduct in a public office

A student West Yorkshire Police officer has appeared in court charged with misconduct in a public office.

PC Caitlin Howarth, 24, of Swan Avenue, Bingley, was suspended from duty in November 2021.

The charge related to "a relationship with a notifiable association with criminal connections", the force said.

At York Crown Court on Tuesday, PC Howarth was not asked to enter a plea as her defence said they had not received all evidence.

However, her defence indicated they would consider submitting an application to dismiss the case.

A provisional trial date for the same court was set for 10 February 2025, with proceedings expected to last five days.
