An investigation is under way after a wallaby was found decapitated at a country park in South Gloucestershire.
Avon and Somerset police said the animal's body was discovered at Old Down Country Park in Tockington. It is believed to have been attacked on Tuesday night.
The park is home to animals including alpacas, Shetland ponies, pigs and goats.
A police spokeswoman said: "There is no doubt that this was a deliberate act."
Neighbourhood Sgt Louise Boyce said: "It was not an attack by another animal.
"The park is very popular with families and supports local community events. Staff are understandably shocked and upset.
"This sort of cruelty is deeply disturbing and I would urge anyone who can help us find the person or people responsible to get in touch."
