Jo Yeates: Funeral takes place at Hampshire church

The funeral of landscape architect Jo Yeates has taken place in Hampshire.

Miss Yeates, 25, was found dead by dog walkers on Christmas Day, eight days after going missing from her home in Canynge Road, Bristol.

Her body was carried into the church in a wicker coffin in front of her parents, David and Theresa, who said her death had been "traumatic".

Vincent Tabak, 33, who lived next door to Miss Yeates' flat, has been charged with her murder.

Miss Yeates, who was originally from Ampfield, was reported missing by her boyfriend Greg Reardon on 19 December, when he returned to their home after a weekend visiting family in Sheffield.

The landscape architect disappeared on 17 December after going for Christmas drinks. Her frozen body was found alongside Longwood Lane, Failand.

Her coffin was adorned with daffodils, small sunflowers and assorted other flowers.

Following behind her coffin was her brother Chris, his partner Alla and their son.

Greg Reardon, Miss Yeates' boyfriend, followed behind them.

St Mark's Church was chosen as it has close links to the family and was where Miss Yeates was christened.

The Reverend Peter Gilks said said the service was "quiet and reflective more than sombre".

Following the 30-minute service Miss Yeates' coffin was carried from the church to be taken for a private burial.

Dozens of bouquets of flowers were left outside the church with messages including some from former workmates.

A message from the employees of BDP, where Miss Yeates had worked, said "with deepest sympathies" while family members of Miss Yeates wrote that she would be "in our hearts forever".

Another note read: "Our dearest Jo, you will be with us always. Gran and Uncle Clive."
