A man has admitted violent disorder during protests in the Stokes Croft area of Bristol.
Bristol magistrates heard Stephen Farthing, 32, threw missiles at police and set a car alight.
Trouble flared after a peaceful protest at a recently-opened Tesco Express turned violent. The store was damaged during the demonstration.
Farthing, from Stokes Croft, was remanded in custody to be sentenced at Bristol Crown Court on 17 May.
He also admitted possessing cannabis.
In a separate hearing relating to the protests, a 17-year-old youth from Bishopsworth, Bristol, appeared at the court accused of wounding with intent, violent disorder and theft.
He was remanded in custody to appear at Bristol Youth Court on Friday.
Speaking after the hearings an Avon and Somerset Constabulary spokesman said nine people had now been charged with offences relating to violent disorder.
Of the 37 arrests so far, one man has been cautioned and 23 have been released on bail pending further inquiries. Three have been released with no further action.
"Officers continue to examine CCTV footage to identify those involved," the force spokesman added.
