Imperial Tobacco has appointed a contractor to build its new headquarters in Bristol.

BAM Construction aims to complete the £12m project at Winterstoke Road in the south of the city by the end of 2012.

Nick Goff, construction director at BAM, said: "The team are very enthusiastic to set about creating this new building."

The land is being cleared of existing factory units and work is due to begin in September.

The building will be four storeys high and will have a zinc-clad and glass facade.
