Volunteers 'to monitor parking' in Weston-super-Mare

Volunteer traffic wardens could be recruited to help deal with parking problems in Weston-super-mare, a councillor has proposed.
North Somerset Council says it cannot afford to supervise parking regulations in the town centre and police say the force is often too stretched.
Liberal Democrat councillor Mike Bell is now proposing bringing in residents to patrol the streets voluntarily.
Mr Bell said he would meet with police this week to discuss the idea.
The plans would see volunteers put warning notices on illegally parked cars, take photographs and work with the police to send motorists warning letters.
"Hopefully by doing this we can raise awareness of the issue and start to provide some kind of relief to the problem," Mr Bell added.
