Cribbs Causeway mall plans to create more shopping space

A mall spokesman said national and international retailers were unhappy with the existing space
Expansion plans have been revealed for a shopping centre in Bristol.
A two-storey extension and new entrance are planned for part of the The Mall shopping centre at Cribbs Causeway.
Centre bosses say extra space is needed to attract more big-name stores to The Mall which opened in 1998.
An extra 2,000 sq m would be added with the extension. South Gloucestershire Council is considering the planning application.
Jon Edwards, from The Mall, said they were looking to create a "mini anchor store" by converting some existing space, building over a service yard and creating a new entrance.
"We have to try and do everything we can to maximise our opportunity to attract the right brands to the centre," he said.
The centre currently has 135 shops within 66,000 sq m of space.
Mr Edwards added: "We are engaging now with a number of national and international retailers who are looking to take space at The Mall and they are saying to us that some of the shapes and configurations of our existing space aren't conducive to their retail requirements so they have asked us if we could look again at helping with that."
