Bristol free school plans outlined in public meeting

Details of a planned free school in Bristol are set to be outlined in a public meeting later.

Bristol Inner City Schools Trust hopes to open The Bristol Primary School in September at the office buildings near the Eastgate Centre.

The school will take in children from the Easton, Barton Hill, St Pauls and Eastville parts of the city.

Trust chairman, Andy Burkitt, said: "We've appointed the new principle and have started recruiting staff."

Although the school has won government approval, the trust still needs to carry out two consultations - one with neighbouring schools and another with the local community to gauge the level of support and need.

The school will eventually move to another more permanent location, but this has not yet been confirmed.

The trust has said 567 parents have registered an interest for a primary free school in the area.

The session will be held at Hawks Gym Club in Roman Road, Easton, between 18:30 GMT and 20:00 GMT on Monday.
