Bristol Quakers building to be redeveloped

A Bristol firm is set to redevelop a 17th century Quaker workhouse in Bristol into a block of apartments.
The derelict building on New Street was sold by Bristol City Council to developers, The PG Group.
Director, Stuart Gaiger, said: "The roof isn't in a particularly good condition so water has got in and so floors are rotten."
Work will begin at the end of March in the £2.5m project to create a total of 17 residential apartments.
"In due course we think it's going to be a very attractive building when it's reconditioned and brought back up to a good standard," added Mr Gaiger.
The development has been welcomed by the Bristol Civic Society (BCS) which campaigns for the restoration of historic buildings in the city.
John Frencle, from the BSC, said: "We need more people back into the centre of the city with places [to live] close to work.
"It will bring up the population and make it more lively."
