Plans have been submitted to build a bypass around Stoke Gifford in South Gloucestershire.

It is part of the £102m North Fringe to Hengrove bus "rapid transit" scheme, which aims to improve public transport.

Earlier this month, South Gloucestershire Council was given the go-ahead to buy land along the route.

It also agreed to spend £4m to make capacity improvements to the Gipsy Patch and Filton A38 junctions to improve commuter journey times.

The route will see an extra bus-only junction added to the M32 between Frenchay and Easton.

A council spokeswoman said the bypass plans were currently being "validated" and would appear on the authority's website within the next week.
