A charity that supports victims of human trafficking has secured more than £18,000 to fund a new support worker.

The Lloyds TSB Foundation For England And Wales has awarded the grant to Bristol-based Unseen which helps females who have been trafficked.

The charity runs a safe house in the city where women are helped to deal with their experiences.

Unseen said the money will go towards the salary of a staff member who will help provide "one-to-one support".

The charity's Rebecca Wingate-Saul said she welcomes the funding and said Unseen "exists to help rebuild women's lives".

Emma Beeston, from the foundation, said: "We are pleased to support the much needed work of Unseen.

"The foundation has a long history of funding charities that make a significant difference in improving the overall life choices and chances of women who have been victims of abuse."
