On Tuesday morning the Queen's Baton arrived in Bristol. Tracie Colbron, from Westbury-on-Trym, who coaches junior girls' basketball teams in Bristol, was the first of four to carry the Baton.

Children from the nearby Cathedral Primary School were allowed a break from their lessons to cheer, as the Baton made its short journey from Millennium Square to City Hall.

As the day progressed the sun came out over the city, much to the delight of the hundreds of children who were given a chance to try a sport of their choice.
