HMP Bristol holds a mixture of adult males and young offenders

A man has been charged with the attempted murder of an inmate at Bristol Prison.

Ryan Guest, 34, was charged after a 37-year-old man was hospitalised with serious head and face injuries in July.

The 34-year-old is due to appear at Bristol Magistrates' Court at a later date, a police spokesman said.

The family of the victim, who has not been named, said they were "devastated" by the incident. The victim remains in hospital.

HMP Bristol holds a mixture of adult males and young offenders. The majority stay for less than 12 months.
