Ujima Radio relocates to Bristol city centre

A community radio station in Bristol has moved to the city centre after "six years of wrangling" over its former premises in St Pauls.

Roger Griffith, from Ujima Radio, said they were "sad to be leaving their community base in St Pauls" but were "looking forward to a bright future".

Ujima left its Wilder Street base after disputes with the landlord resulted in power cuts due to unpaid utility bills.

The radio station is now located in The Station in Silver Street.

Mr Griffith said staff were currently "settling in" and he thanked the Creative Youth Network, who run the building, for "their generous support and warm welcome into our new home at The Station, as well as our supporters and listeners".

"We are looking forward to a bright the future of new programmes and partnerships that involve all of Bristol's diverse communities," he said.

Ujima Radio is licensed by Ofcom and is run by more than 130 volunteers. It broadcasts music and talk shows and has between 19,000 and 24,000 listeners.

Ujima is now based at The Station in Silver Street in Broadmead
