A collection of giant sculptures of Shaun the Sheep have been gathered at a farm near Bristol ahead of a public art trail in the city next month.

The trail, featuring 70 statues of the Aardman Animations character, starts on 6 July.

Locations include Clifton Suspension Bridge, Bristol Temple Meads railway station, the Downs and M Shed.

The sculptures will later be auctioned in aid of The Grand Appeal, Bristol Children's Hospital's charity.

'Caused a stir'

Designers include Bagpuss creator Peter Firmin and Red or Dead designer Wayne Hemingway.

Nicola Masters, director of The Grand Appeal, said: "It was great to introduce some of our Shaun sculptures to their real life, woolly counterparts.

"While the sculptures certainly don't get into quite as much mischief as Shaun the Sheep himself does, they certainly caused a stir down on the farm.

"We are all looking forward to the trail to start in Bristol and can't wait to let the whole flock loose on the city on 6 July."
