A new clue in the search for a 73-year-old DJ from Bristol who disappeared three weeks ago has been found, said police.

CCTV footage found by officers shows him heading towards the Bristol Royal Infirmary, an unexpected route.

Derek Serpell-Morris, who is well known in the city, was last seen at the Commercial Rooms in Corn Street.

His family were informed of the clue ahead of a search party held earlier to retrace his steps.

'Family hope'

More than 70 people turned out to help in the search where various routes were explored for clues.

His great niece, Jennifer Griffiths, said: "We looked at the map routes last night and we didn't include that area [near the hospital] but with the police saying he went that way, we now have to change our location."

Avon and Somerset police have said the CCTV footage is not yet being made public.

Niece, Paula Marks said: "It's taken its toll on the family but there's still a lot of hope out there so hopefully we will get some good news today."

DJ Derek is known to thousands of people and has played hundreds of sets at local clubs and pubs, as well as at the Glastonbury festival.

Earlier this week police confirmed his bank account has not been used since the beginning of July, and that he does not have a current passport and has "definitely not gone abroad".

The former accountant, a resident of St Pauls in Bristol since 1978, has played numerous gigs across the UK and appeared at the Big Chill.

He also released his own compilation album, worked with Massive Attack and appeared in a Dizzee Rascal video.
