The Labour Party has chosen its candidate for the Bristol mayoral elections due to be held next May.

Public health worker Marvin Rees stood in the 2012 election which was won by the independent George Ferguson.

Mr Rees said Bristol needed a "different style of politics"... "with people's needs first and foremost in everything we do".

Also shortlisted for the Labour nomination was the Bedminster councillor Mark Bradshaw.

Of the 2,760 votes cast, Mr Rees received 57%, Mr Bradshaw 43%.
