Becky Watts murder trial: Shauna Hoare's mother joked about kidnap
- Published
The woman accused of murdering Becky Watts was teased by her mother about kidnapping the girl, a court has heard.
Lisa Donovan said Shauna Hoare visited her Bristol home several times the week after the 16-year-old vanished. Becky's body was later found cut into pieces.
Ms Donovan told the jury she found out her estranged daughter knew Becky and joked she was visiting a lot because she "kidnapped her" and was on the run.
Nathan Matthews, 28, and his girlfriend Miss Hoare, 21, deny Becky's murder.
Mr Matthews has admitted her manslaughter insisting Miss Hoare had no part in it, the trial has heard.
Her mother's partner, Kevin Stone, told Bristol Crown Court he was "shocked" to get a phone call from Miss Hoare as there had been had been no contact between them for some years.
The couple visited several times that week, often staying late, before being arrested on suspicion of kidnap at the address on 28 February.
'Bathroom clean'
During that time they gave little explanation about why they were there.
Meanwhile, the police wanted to interview them and search their home on Cotton Mill Lane, Bristol, the trial heard.
When two police detectives did gain entry, the property was found to be "extremely cluttered" with "all manner of items and stuff piled around" and a smell of cat faeces, the jury was told.
Detective Constable Simon Wallis said he noticed the bathroom window was open and it "was cleaner than the rest of the house".
"The actual bath itself was clear. There was nothing on it or on the sides at all," he said.
The Bristol Crown Court trial previously heard Mr Matthews, of Hazelbury Drive in Warmley, South Gloucestershire, admitted killing her after trying to kidnap her, as well as storing her body parts in a garden shed at 9 Barton Court, Bristol.
He told police he dismembered the body with a circular power saw and wrapped the various parts in plastic bags.
'Well paid job'
Two other people, Karl Demetrius, 29, and his girlfriend Jaydene Parsons, 23, have pleaded guilty to assisting an offender but say they were not aware that what was stored in their shed was body parts.
Karl's brother Donovan Demetrius, 29, of Marsh Lane, Redfield, Bristol, and James Ireland, 23, of Richmond Villas, Avonmouth - deny the same charge.
Giving evidence on Friday, a colleague of Karl Demetrius and Mr Ireland told the jury he heard them organising a "job" on the night Becky's body was moved, "collecting or delivering something" which they would "get paid well" for doing.
It is alleged they used a work van to move Becky's body parts from the home of Mr Matthews and Miss Hoare to a shed at Karl Demetrius and Jaydene Parsons's house.
The trial at Bristol Crown Court continues.
