People are being asked to avoid the area near a children's hospital due to a burst water main.

Avon Fire and Rescue is dealing with the incident close to the Bristol Royal Hospital for Children.

A spokesperson said: "The bottom of Horfield Road is closed along with Perry Road, cutting off a small portion of St Michael's Hill."

The leak has been isolated but a diversion remains in place to allow the water to dissipate.

The closure is affecting routes near to St Michael's Hospital, the Bristol Royal Infirmary and Bristol Eye Hospital.

A fire spokesperson said crews from Temple were called to reports of flooding on the road surface at 04:54 BST.

"On arrival, crews found a burst water main which had caused a crack in the road surface," they added.

They said firefighters worked to divert the water away from the hospital entrances.

A Bristol Water spokesperson said some residents experienced low pressure or no water while engineers worked to fix the burst, but this is now resolved.

They explained water supplies to the hospital were not impacted by the burst.

"We would like to thank customers for their patience while we work to repair the burst." they added.
