A motorway has been closed due to large potholes that "deteriorated" overnight.

National Highways said the M32 would stay shut northbound between junction 3 (Lower Ashley Road Interchange) and junction 2 (Eastville Interchange) so works could take place.

One of the potholes measures 9 feet by 3 feet (3 metres by 1 metre).

The roads agency hopes to have the road open again for rush hour in the afternoon, with more closures taking place overnight.

While lanes two and three of the main carriageway are closed, the dedicated lane one for Eastville remains open, allowing drivers to go up and over the two junctions via exit and entry slip roads.
