Bristol arson investigation after seven overnight fires

Police were called at around 02:10 BST after reports of multiple fires

Several bins, an electricity substation and two vehicles have been set on fire prompting an arson investigation by police.

Officers were called by the Avon Fire and Rescue Service at around 02:10 BST on Friday after reports of multiple fires in St Werburghs, Bristol.

Seven fires were started in Eastgate Road, York Street, Narroways Road and Glenfrome Road.

Avon and Somerset Police said the incidents are being linked.

Avon Fire and Rescue said they were first alerted to the fires at around 01:51 GMT, which are thought to have been caused by "deliberate ignition".

Nearby roads including Mina Road and York Street remain closed while officers conduct enquiries.

Anyone who has information that could help the investigation have been asked to contact police.
