Organisers of a charity banquet are aiming to raise £100,000 for a group fighting food poverty.

Chef Josh Eggleton has organised the Anti Banquet with Team Canteen and Plaster, to support the work of the volunteer-run Bristol Local Food Fund.

Mr Eggleton said the event is a "unique opportunity to make a real change for some of Bristol's most vulnerable residents".

The Anti Banquet is being held on Thursday at Ashton Gate Stadium.

Businesses have contributed by buying tables at the event, with the leaders of the companies helping chefs in the kitchen, while employees enjoy the entertainment.

Organisers have thanked businesses for their support and appealed for donations for people in need to continue coming in.

Mr Eggleton said: "As the cost of living crisis worsens, we must secure the future of Bristol's community food charities to make sure they can keep delivering their services to those most in need in our city."

He will be joined by chefs including Simon Rimmer, Peter Sanchez Iglesias, Jude Kereama, Hannah Catley, Shona Graham and George Opondo.

All proceeds will go to Bristol Local Food Fund, which works towards achieving food equality so that everyone has access to meals.

A spokesperson said one in 12 households in Bristol struggles with having enough food to eat, with many relying on food banks.

Gareth Sweets, CEO of Sweet Projects, which is supporting the event, said it was an "opportunity to flip the traditional fundraising dinner on its head".

"Bristol Local Food Fund have been instrumental in supporting our city's families and people in need [and] make such a difference to thousands of lives across the communities we live and work in," he added.

Joe Sims and Jayde Adams are hosting the hosting the event, with entertainment coming from the Invisible Circus and the 45s.
