Clifton to Severn Beach line flooding hits train services
- Published
Train services have been cancelled due to flooding which has closed a railway line near Bristol.
Great Western Railway (GHR) said heavy rainfall overnight affected the line from Clifton Down to Severn Beach via Avonmouth.
All lines in the area were blocked and the route has been shut.
GWR said the line is expected to reopen at about midday but disruption to services is expected until the end of the day.
In a statement GWR said it is operating a shuttle service between Severn Beach and Avonmouth "utilising a three coach train".
"The departure times of these can be found in journey planners and at stations," it said.
"Eight-seat taxis will then replace trains between Avonmouth and Clifton Down in both directions. Trains to or from Bristol Temple Meads will start or terminate at Clifton Down."
