A sound and light show illuminated King's College Chapel in Cambridge as part of the city's music festival.

The installation, called Plenum, was created by artist Simeon Nelson, composer Nick Rothwell and computer artist Rob Godman.

Organisers said the show was an "artistic interpretation of how the universe was formed".

The show ran in 15-minute loops on the chapel throughout the evening on Friday.

A series of dots of light created a computer-generated "architectural light projection" designed to pulsate in time to music and "alien sounds".

"Plenum was inspired by scientific and religious accounts of how our world came into being and how the cosmos maintains life," organisers said.

Cambridge Music Festival, featuring orchestral, choral and chamber music concerts runs until 20 November.
