Wyton lorry death crash woman was Cambridgeshire police officer

A woman killed in a five-vehicle crash was a Cambridgeshire police officer.

Det Con Sharon Garrett, 48, died after the Renault Clio she was driving was involved in a collision with two other cars and two lorries on the A141 at Wyton on Friday.

She was married to a police officer and the couple had two children.

A 26-year-old lorry driver, from King's Lynn in Norfolk, arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving, was released on bail.

Det Con Garrett joined Cambridgeshire Police in 1991 and served in a number of roles, most recently investigating fraud offences with the Economic Crime Unit.

Chief Constable Simon Parr, said: "Detective Constable Sharon Garrett was an exceptional police officer and will be truly missed by all of the many friends and colleagues who she had within the constabulary.

"The death of Sharon in such tragic circumstances is so incredibly sad.

"My condolences and heartfelt sympathy go to her husband, children and immediate family but also to the many friends and colleagues who will feel the loss of such an exceptional person."

Police have appealed for witnesses to the crash or anyone with information to contact them.
