The last of three suspects held over the murder of a Cambridgeshire pub landlady more than 17 years ago has been released.

Deborah Steel, who ran the Royal Standard, Ely, disappeared early on 28 December, 1997. Her body is missing.

Her death was reclassified as a murder last year. But, despite the arrests and searches of the pub and a garden, no-one has been charged.

Cambridgeshire Police would not comment on progress in the case.

A 70-year-old and a 50-year-old, both from Ely, arrested on suspicion of her murder in September and November were bailed, and released with no further action in January.

A 73-year-old man from Ely, arrested in November had his bail cancelled on Monday.

Police said no-one was prepared to comment on how the cold case investigation was progressing.
