A man has been charged with murder in connection with a death earlier this month.

Mitchell Bird, 29, of Cox Close, Wisbech, appeared before Cambridge Crown Court charged with killing 35-year-old Bradley Carter.

A Cambridgeshire Police spokeswoman said Mr Carter of West Walton, Norfolk was assaulted at a house in Wisbech on 14 February.

He died at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in King's Lynn five days later.

Mr Bird and Mr Carter were known to each other, the police spokeswoman said.

In a statement, Mr Carter's family said: "Bradley was a kind, loving and helpful son, uncle and father who will be greatly missed by all those who knew him."

Mr Bird has been remanded in custody and will appear before the court again in March.
