Cambridgeshire neighbours share £1m postcode lottery win

A dance teacher, a Royal Air Force veteran and a grandmother are among the neighbours who will share a £1m lottery win.

The People's Postcode Lottery winners live in the PE7 2AS postcode in Eastrea, near Whittlesey, Cambs.

Dance teacher Anita Winter, 60, collected the highest amount of £235,292, despite missing calls to let her know she had won.

She is now hoping to treat herself and husband Vince to a trip to Australia.

They hope to visit their son, Jason, who is performing in Moulin Rouge! The Musical there.

'A lovely Christmas'

Mrs Winter, who runs the Tu Danse school in Peterborough and has been married to transport manager Vince, 63, for 40 years, said: "We're at the stage now where we've been talking about semi-retiring and looking forward to the next stage of our lives.

"Both our sons, James and Jason, are in the performing arts. James has two sons so it will be lovely to treat them to something - they'll have a lovely Christmas."

David Brightley and wife Beverley are planning a holiday to Madeira

RAF veteran and father-of-three David Brightley, 58, said his win of more than £50,000 had left him feeling "humbled and grateful".

Mr Brightley, who celebrated with wife Beverley, 54, said: "Bev is an accountant so every penny of this is already accounted for.

"Family holidays are most definitely on the cards. We have a favourite resort in Madeira and I think a couple of weeks of all-expenses luxury is definitely in order."

Karen and Tony Harrison are planning a dream holiday to Canada

Lorry driver Tony Harrison, 62, admitted he thought the windfall was a hoax at first. He and his wife Karen have described the amount of £58,823 as "life-changing".

Other winners included Sarah Newsome, 54, who is unable to work following a stroke.

She said "Christmas will be really good this year" for her three children and one granddaughter.

A total of £1m is being shared between local charities across Peterborough and Cambridgeshire as part of November's Postcode Lottery draws, including Serv Suffolk and Cambridgeshire, also known as the "blood runners".

The service delivers vital medical support including blood, blood products, medical samples and other equipment.
