Kris Lika has been jailed for one year and ten months after being caught with drugs and an axe in his car

A drug dealer found with an axe, criminal cash and a haul of cannabis has been jailed for almost two years.

Kris Lika, 30, from Derby, was driving a Volvo on the A15 in Peterborough when he was caught by police on 6 November.

Cambridgeshire Police said officers noticed an "overwhelming smell of cannabis" during a routine stop.

They found two large boxes and bags full of 27 vacuum-packed bags of the drug and an axe hidden inside the car, as well as £960 in cash.

Lika, of St James Street, admitted possessing a Class B drug with intent to supply and possessing a weapon in a public place.

He was jailed at Huntingdon Law Courts for 22 months.

'Deterrent'

Investigating officer PC Malachi Creedon said what officers found inside Lika's car was "almost beyond belief".

"Thanks to a proactive stop by officers, these drugs have been prevented from reaching the streets," he said.

"We hope this sentence serves as a deterrent to others and also highlights how seriously offences of this nature are taken by not only the force, but also the courts."
