Damas Nhaga was sentenced at Huntingdon Law Court after admitting burglary, theft, and possession of cocaine

A man who burgled his mother's home has been jailed for 10 months.

Eugerindo Damas Nhaga, 29, of no fixed address, was arrested along with another man at his mother's house in Peterborough.

A window had been smashed and designer clothing worth £3,500, later found in the garden, was missing.

Det Con Pete Wise, of Cambridgeshire Police, described the burglary as "despicable".

"Receiving the 999 call about a suspected burglary in action enabled us to act quickly and catch Damas Nhaga in the act," he added.

At Huntingdon Law Court, Damas Nhaga was jailed for 10 months after admitting burglary, theft, and possession of cocaine.

He claimed he was allowed in the house, but his mother told officers he was only let in when she was there.

The incident took place in Winwick Place, Westwood on 22 December.

The second man arrested at the house is still under police investigation.
