Police searching for missing Wisbech man find body

Officers searching for a missing man have found a body in a river.

David Cross, of South Brink, Wisbech, was last seen in the town on CCTV on the evening of 31 January.

Police were called to the river in South Brink on Friday morning, where they found a body.

"Formal identification has not been completed, but it is believed to be David and his family are aware," a police spokesperson said.

"The death is being treated as unexplained at this time and an investigation is ongoing."

Mr Cross, originally from King's Lynn, Norfolk, was reported missing on 4 February by staff at the Ferry Project, which helps homeless people in the Fenland district.

Before the body was discovered, officers said the major crime unit at Cambridgeshire Police would be taking over the investigation.
