Driver dies after two-car crash on A1307 between Linton and Haverhill

A woman has died after two cars crashed on Friday evening.

The incident took place on the A1307 between Linton, Cambridgeshire, and Haverhill, Suffolk.

Jean Merritt, 86, of Wheatsheaf Way, Linton, was driving a blue Daihatsu Sirion when it collided with a blue Nissan Micra near Horseheath.

A 85-year-old woman who was a passenger in the Daihatsu is being treated at hospital in a serious but stable condition.

Cambridgeshire Police said they were called at 19:30 GMT.

Ms Merritt was taken to Addenbrooke's Hospital, Cambridge, where she died on Monday.
