Six men found in refrigerated lorry near Ely after 999 call
- Published
Six men have been taken into custody after they were found in the trailer of a refrigerated lorry, police said.
Cambridgeshire Police said it received a 999 call from a person inside the trailer who said: "We can't breathe."
A GPS location-sharing app was used to track the moving lorry on Wednesday, and officers said they caught up with it on the A142 between Ely and Soham.
The UK Border Agency has launched an investigation.
Police said the 999 call dropped out after the caller said they could not breathe.
The six men had travelled from France earlier that morning and arrived into Cambridgeshire via the M11, police said.
A Cambridgeshire Police spokesperson said: "They were all checked over by our colleagues from the East of England Ambulance Service NHS Trust before being taken into our custody in relation to immigration offences which has since been passed to the UK Border Agency for investigation."
