A man has appeared before magistrates after being charged with the murder of an 86-year-old widow found dead 11 years ago.
Retired postmistress Una Crown was found lying in a pool of blood at her bungalow in Wisbech, Cambridgeshire, on 13 January 2013.
David Newton, 69, of Magazine Close, Wisbech, was remanded in custody after a hearing at Cambridge Magistrates' Court on Tuesday.
He was not asked to enter a plea.
He is next due to appear at a hearing in Cambridge Crown Court on Thursday.
Mrs Crown's death was initially treated as an accident when she was found at her home in Magazine Lane.
A murder investigation was launched days later.
A post-mortem examination showed Mrs Crown had died from stab wounds to her neck and chest.
Police said Mrs Crown was last seen alive on 11 January, two days before she was found dead.
She had also spoken to a friend on the phone at about 17:00 GMT the day before her body was found.
In January, police launched a fresh appeal for information over Mrs Crown's death.
Mr Newton had been arrested on Monday and detained at Thorpe Wood Police Station in Peterborough.
