Teenage driver from Looe 'was over drink-drive limit'

A teenager from Looe who died in a car crash was over the drink-drive limit, an inquest has heard.

Ollie Naismith, 19, was driving on the A38 on 6 December when his car left the road at Latchbrook and hit a tree. He died at the scene.

He had been out with friends in Plymouth but decided to drive home after he was separated from them.

The coroner, Dr Emma Carlyon, recorded a verdict of accidental death.

The inquest in Truro heard that Mr Naismith decided to drive home, even though he had planned to stay at a friend's house. He was the only person in the vehicle.

Forensic tests showed a blood alcohol level of 134mg per 100ml of blood. The legal limit is 80mg.

There were also traces of cannabis in his system, the inquest heard.

The RNLI announced in March that Looe's new inshore lifeboat was carry his name.
