A scheme to improve the management and safety of licensed premises in Cornwall has begun.
The government-backed Best Bar None scheme will be known as Bydh an Gwella, meaning 'Be the Best' in Cornish.
The scheme encourages premises to compete to have the best policies for crime prevention and safety.
Lance Kennedy, from Cornwall Council, said: "It is a genuine attempt to improve management standards and create a safer environment."
