The deaths of two men at a house in Cornwall at the weekend was "a tragic accident", police have said.

The bodies of Richard Smith, 30 and Kevin Branton, 34, from Saltash, were discovered at the property in Moorlands Lane, Saltash, on Saturday.

Gas appliances at the property were examined by health and safety inspectors, after neighbours reported a strange odour coming from the house.

A police spokesman said a file was being prepared for the coroner.

A statement said: "As a result of a joint investigation between police and Health and Safety Executive into the incident at Saltash it has been established that this was a tragic accident resulting in the loss of life of two local men"
