Torrential rain has caused flooding in parts of Cornwall.

Nearly an inch (25mm) of rain fell in an hour leading to deep standing water on several roads, making them impassable for a time.

There were no reports of flooding to properties, but police have warned motorists to take extreme care driving through flood water.

The Environment Agency has flood alerts on a number of rivers in the county.

There were reports of up to 6in (150mm) of standing water on the main road through Foxhole near St Austell.

The severe weather and flash flooding led to long delays on the A390 in Tresilian. The A3058 between Mennah and Brighton Cross, near St Austell, is said to be impassable.
