A £15m solar park has been given the go-ahead by Cornwall Council planners.

Nearly 24,000 solar panels will be built on land at Winsdon Farm in North Petherwin, near Launceston. Panels will be placed on 2.2m (7ft 4in) high poles.

Developer Kronos Solar Systems said that work would be carried out to ensure the facility had as little impact on the countryside as possible.

When completed, the panels will produce enough electricity to power nearly 1,000 homes, it added.
