Plans for £100m retail development near St Austell

The proposed development includes shops, offices and a care home
Plans are being considered for a £100m retail and housing scheme in Cornwall.
If approved, the 100-acre (40ha) development, at Coyte Farm, south west of St Austell, would include shops, offices, a care home and park and ride site.
The developer, Mercian Developments Ltd, said the project would create 1,000 permanent jobs.
The plans will be presented at a public meeting of St Austell Town Council and St Mewan Parish Council later.
Chris Towers, Mercian Developments' managing director, said: "The retailing element of the scheme will complement, rather than be in competition with the town centre.
"It will arrest the considerable amount of shopping expenditure that currently leaks away from St Austell to other local centres, and will attract shoppers for both the town centre and the new shops."
A spokeswoman for St Austell Town Council said the plans were at a "pre-consultation" stage and planning permission had not yet been sought from Cornwall Council.
In 2009 St Austell's White River Place shopping complex opened as part of a project to regenerate the town.
