Arsonists are believed to have started two out of three gorse fires which broke out in Cornwall on Thursday afternoon, the fire service has said.
A pilot from RNAS Culdrose alerted firefighters to a 10-hectare blaze on Goonhilly Downs on The Lizard.
Another fire, at Molinnis, near Bugle, saw about a hectare of gorse alight.
A third fire over a 400m (1,300ft) area, which endangered a property in Row Hill, St Breward, is believed to have started accidentally.
Police were investigating both of the suspicious incidents, the fire service said.
