Unemployment in Cornwall is at 3.1%, just under the UK rate of 3.8%

The number of unemployed people in Cornwall went over the 10,000 mark in February, the Office for National Statistics says.

The total number of people out of work and claiming benefit in the county increased to 10,060, up from 9,799 in January.

That is a rate of 3.1%. However, it is still below the equivalent UK rate, which is currently 3.8%.

Some of the rise was believed to be down to routine seasonal factors.
