Exhibition shows revised road plans in Cornwall

A public exhibition is showing revised plans for a major highway improvement scheme which Cornwall Council has said is central to county regeneration.

The council said government spending cuts made it revise the plans for the Camborne, Pool and Redruth area.

It said the changes meant it would only be bidding for £22m from the Department for Transport, instead of £36m.

The plans will go on display at the Hub Club at Carn Brea Leisure Centre on Thursday 5 May.

The council said the proposed east-west link road between Camborne and Redruth had been reduced in scope to meet the revised criteria of the government.

The Department for Transport is due to announce is the bid is successful by the end of the year.
