Culdrose runway work is completed

RNAS Culdrose's runway is more than a mile long

Work to resurface the main runway at RNAS Culdrose has been completed, after two months effort.

Both the hardcore and surface material have been replaced on the runway which is more than a mile long.

Contractors worked up to 19 hours a day to complete the resurfacing, laying around 30,000 tons of asphalt.

During the work, Culdrose's fixed wing aircraft temporarily operated from the Royal Naval Air Station at Yeovilton in Somerset.

The Hawk Jet squadron will now resume operations from RNAS Culdrose.

The new King Air aircraft, which will replace the Jetstreams of 750 Naval Air Squadron based at Culdrose, will be delivered this summer.
