Cornwall Council plans a further £50m of budget cuts

Transport is one of the areas where more cuts are planned

Cornwall Council's cabinet members have been discussing plans to find a further £50m in cuts.

It is the second year of a four-year strategy to cut a total of £170m from the authority's budget.

A range of departments are earmarked for cuts including children's services, environment and transport.

However the Conservative-led administration wants to help boost the Cornish economy - including a £7m investment for adult social care.

It also highlighted support and capital funding for projects such as dualling the A30 at Temple.

The council is currently on target to make £88.5m savings this year.

The proposals for next year include cuts of about £40m with £10m for contingency funds.

The budget cut plans will be discussed at full council in November.
