Man, 45, falls off pier in St Ives

A man who fell off a pier on to concrete in Cornwall has been airlifted to hospital, coastguards have said.

The incident happened in St Ives harbour at about 16:00 BST. He is believed to be 45-years-old and fell about 7ft (2.1m), coastguards said.

A rescue helicopter from RNAS Culdrose has airlifted him to the Royal Cornwall Hospital at Treliske, in Truro.

Coastguards said they did not believe his injuries were life threatening.
