23,000 want Cornwall Council housing help

The number of people on Cornwall's housing register has reached 23,000 people, Cornwall Council has confirmed.

Figures reported in January said there were about 21,000 on the council's Homechoice register.

As part of plans to tackle problems, housing bosses at the Conservative-Independent-run authority say they are planning a £60m housing package.

They said it would require a £20m government loan. Senior councillors are to debate the proposals next week.
