A climber has died after falling from cliffs in Cornwall.

The 52-year-old holidaymaker was climbing at Compass Point, Bude, with a friend when he fell.

Cliff rescue teams, Bude inshore lifeboat and a rescue helicopter from RNAS Culdrose attended the scene at about 14:25 BST on Thursday.

Falmouth Coastguard said the man died at the scene but it was unclear how far he had fallen. Compass Point is a known rock climbing site in north Cornwall.

Devon and Cornwall Police said his death was being treated as unexplained.
