A search has resumed for a 23-year-old man who has been missing on the Isles of Scilly since Sunday.

Police say they believe Josh Clayton, from Taunton, is still somewhere on the island of Tresco.

Teams of coastguards, police with dogs, a helicopter and members of the public joined the search on Monday.

Sgt Colin Taylor said Mr Clayton's family would arrive on Scilly later to join the search which had often been through dense undergrowth.

He said: "There's nothing to indicate to us at this stage he had plans to leave Tresco, so that gives us a greater level of confidence that where we're searching as in Tresco is the right place to be focusing our efforts."

Mr Clayton has worked for the Tresco Estate for several seasons and his disappearance is being described as "out of character".

"I'd like to thank all those so far who have done so much to support this hunt for Josh, many of whom have done so voluntarily," said Sgt Taylor.

"The support all those at Tresco Estate are providing to these teams is hugely appreciated by all."
